Synopsis

When Fidel Castro announced in 1994 that his government would make no effort to stop the boats with people who wanted to leave the island of Cuba, thousands of Cubans took to the sea in pursuit of the American adventure. In the summer of 1994, a team of reporters from Televisió de Catalunya filmed and interviewed seven Cubans and their families during the days in which they were preparing for the risky adventure of throwing themselves into the sea to reach the coast of the United States, fleeing economic difficulties. that plagued their country. Some time later, in the refugee camp at the US base in Guantánamo, reporters were able to locate those who had been rescued on the high seas. Her families remained in Cuba with no news of them, except in the case of a woman who had been shipwrecked with her raft and had been forced to return to Cuban territory. Seven years after they launched into the waters of the Gulf of Florida in search of a dream, the team of "Balseros" meets up with those characters to discover what their destiny has been.
