Synopsis

“Mam´enying!” (Things of life) is the exclamation that is sometimes released when one is already alone in the face of the events that have occurred... It is what the protagonist of this story will exclaim, to the point of turning it into a kind of retaining wall. Abaga Mikwe, the son of the powerful and corrupt mayor of a city in southern Cameroon, accustomed to doing and undoing as he pleases in his father's domain, does not realize certain injustices he committed, until he has to suffer them in his own flesh, in the city of Europe where he went to continue his university studies. He still feels confused, when he falls in love with a Brazilian girl, black like him, but her brother opposes their union because he doesn't want his sister to marry a black man... The brother is accompanied by a childhood trauma: he and his sister were discriminated against from within their own family for inheriting the dark skin of their parents...
