Synopsis

The drama of illegal immigration is experienced in a special way in the region of Campo de Gibraltar, where there are frequent episodes of shipwrecks of small boats and the flood of North African and trans-Saharan immigrants, in search of a better future, is constant. Concerned about this situation that does not stop and sensitive to the suffering of others, poets, narrators, journalists, painters, photographers... decided to carry out this collective work, in order to sensitize public opinion and to strongly demand deep and urgent measures, of a political nature, economic and cultural, that would contribute to solving the problem. The book is also a call that tries to alert the population against racism and xenophobia, the two sides of the same coin, whose current and pernicious use has unfortunately spread throughout Europe. The province of Cadiz serves as a gateway between two continents and is a crossroads where thousands of people from different cultures, social conditions and ethnic origins converge. We have, therefore, the opportunity and the duty of tolerance and solidarity with others, to the same extent that we would wish it for ourselves.
